The seedling hazelnut offered here have been collected from Badgersett, Ashworth, Dale Stieg genetics growing here on the farm. The Dale Steig plants are becoming our favorites. they are very tall compared to most other hazels we have growing, and most all these seed grown plants produce very large nuts. Dale selected for 35 years before choosing 2 plants to cross pollinate one another for seed production. The first pic here are typical Dale Steig nuts, harvested a bit early in August 2026.

The seed is collected from our best plants. These are the largest or most productive from a homestead perspective. They are very hardy plants and reliable producers, that should bear well and produce good sized nuts. Like most nut trees you need two for pollination. With hazels I like to say “at least two”. These are all hybrid crosses of European and American hazelnuts.
