The parents of these seed come from Dale Steig, Fred Ashworth, Badgersett Research Station and Riverbend Hazels., All these folks have been selecting for productivity for over 30 years. These seed come from shrubs planted here 6- 7 years ago, they have been collected from the best 10 plants out of hundreds we have growing here. Mostly selected for size, a couple are medium sized but make so many nuts year after year.2023 was a banner year for hazel, so there quite a few…these shrubs are up about 10 feet tall after 7 years..
